The planning challenge
The site was located within an Air Quality Management Area (AQMA), close to a major road. Outstanding air quality concerns had delayed progress, requiring a clear assessment of the risks and practical measures to address them.
Our assessment and recommendations
We carried out a construction dust assessment and pollution exposure study with reference to Birmingham City Council’s air quality planning guidance.
The assessment considered dust and pollutant exposure during construction and occupation. We identified the relevant risks and recommended proportionate mitigation measures, presenting the findings in a clear report to support the planning application.
The project outcome
Our report addressed the outstanding air quality concerns and provided the technical evidence needed to support the application. Birmingham City Council subsequently granted planning permission.
